Our next question for our Curiosity topic is – Why don’t we feel the earth spin. This video explains what we did and what we learnt.
Enjoy.

Room 7 students learnt about some native skinks and geckos that were moved from Transmission Gully in Wellington and then returned after the motorway was built. The students then created their own poster with facts about geckos and skinks. Room 7 enjoyed learning about these little creatures.

Room 7 looked at what is contained in an information report by looking at a report about tuataras. We found the information about tutaras interesting. We learnt that an information report needs to have facts about something. With animals, we had to find the species, why the species is special and where it lives. Next, we found information about what it looks like, and then information about what it likes to eat. We then had to have a conclusion. We then worked together to find facts about penguins in note form and then made the notes into complete sentences for each paragaraph. Room 7 was very interested in how penguins are camouflaged in the water by their black and white feathers. We then copied and pasted our paragraphs into a google draw with a picture of a penguin.

Another great comic strip on how to make oxygen by Ruwaidah.

Our first experiment was to put a leaf in water and see the bubbles form as the leaf makes oxygen. We learnt the word photosynthesis which is the name for the process of carbon dioxide, sun, and water that plants process to make oxygen.

Our create task is to explain how plants make oxygen and have used Adobe Express to do this. This is Cruden’s:

This week we have been learning about probability. We made spinners to work out how many chances to get red or green. We had lots of fun.

This term we are learning to be Curious. Our for Inquiry is Curiosity. Last term the students came up with things that they were curious about. Our first topic to inspire Curiosity was borrowed from the Summer Learning Journey and thinking about making a prosthetic leg for an elephant. Here are two examples from Abigail and Jeanro.

Our Inquiry Topic is curiosty.
We have created a false leg
called a prothsetic for Mosha
I decided to add images
Our inquiry topic is Curiosity. We have created a false leg called a prothsetic for Mosha.I decided to coloured it with my favorite colors. And thats all!
In class we have been learning about writing narrative (made up stories). Students were asked to write a short story and publish using Google Slides and Adob Express AI. Francisco has created this wonderful story. Please follow this link to leave a comment on Francisco’s blog. Francisco’s blog
