I Can, You Can

For our Inquiry, Room 7 has been learning to work in teams. This challenge was to build a tall tower with marshmallows and kebab sticks. Everyone had fun and of course, enjoyed eating some marshmallows. Enjoy our photos.

Making a Waka Challenge

Room 7 had fun this week with making a waka challenge. We have been learning about the Tamaki River which is on our doorstep, and wakas would go past for fishing, and travelling from the Hauraki Gulf to to the Manukau Harbour and out to the Tasman Sea. The Maori would portage (carry the waka) across the narrowest part near Otahuhu.  Our waka’s floated in the water in the class as we couldn’t go down to the river.

Maungarei, Mt Wellington Visit

On Tuesday 19 March, the whole school went up the mountain in groups. At the trig station we were very lucky to learn about the archeological findings from hand digging the line to the reservoir like the sharp pipi shells spread from kete to help stop invaders with their bare feet. If we looked hard enough we could see our school. The Waipuna lagoon, Tamaki River and the Sky Tower were easy to spot.  We went with Room 6.
